Comments Please!
FREE Cost of Conflict Calculator How much is conflict costing your company?
The beauty of a blog is that a subscriber can immediately comment or the assertions of an article’s author. If the subscriber’s experiences differ or there is something constructive to add - a simple process connects the original thoughts with those of fellow subscribers to our blog.
The original author feels appreciated as though they are providing worthwhile information and the individual commenting may wish to append their signature - so they too can be easily contacted by someone looking for their insights as well.
It is also true that less than 1% of the readers are likely to add their comments - putting those of you who do into a different category entirely.
Please leave relevant comments - not spam.
Naturally we have measures in place that automatically delete obvious spam. In addition our volunteers moderate every post and comment - not as content editors, but they know spam when they see it and will simply delete it. repeat offenders will simply be banned from further participation. What we and our readers are looking for is feedback that continues the discussion about the topic at hand.
Extend the conversation.
Make sure your comments further the discussion along its already determined track. When people search online and find an article on our blog, they have a problem to solve so the article itself as well as the follow up comments should all be focused on helping them achieve their objective. Don’t go off in another direction. If you want to post new ideas around a different topic simply join the our community and then post your own articles and thoughts.
Please communicate your thoughts clearly.
Individuals searching for solutions to their conflict resolution and prevention challenges, not to mention the search engines doing the same thing, can only respond to your comments and insights when they understand your message. Since people cannot see your expression or hear your voice your words alone must make your meaning clear. And be sure your writing reflects the level of formality, informative, and generally non-commercial tone of our blog.
How long should your comments be? Longer than the article you’re commenting on or just a line or two? There is to ‘rule’ here - other that to say as little as you can to make your point with a live link to your organization’s web site for more information.
People reading blog comments want to see insightful conversation and points regarding the article expanded upon and discussed.
Your comments are your calling card.
For example, when citing material to illustrate your point, be sure to provide a link so the reader can view it at their leisure. You may also link to your web site, although some folks might see this as spam. Many people feel the best way to get traffic from their blog comments is to link their name to their organization’s site. This gives readers an opportunity to see what you and/or your business is all about if they like what you have to say. Don’t want to go overboard in the linking and branding in blog comments, because the line between acceptable promotion and spam is very fine.
Commenting is simple.
First, register as a subscriber in the META section of the nav bar to your right - toward the very bottom. You must be registered and logged in to post a comment. Then either visit the various categories where articles in your areas of special expertise are located and post your comments.
The best way to stay on top of the process is to add your name and email address in the Feedburner area in the nav bar to your right - toward the top of the page. When new articles/posts are made you’ll be notified so you can add your thoughts and comment right away.
